Test Drive: COC-COI Chain

Tip:  Add your initials as a prefix to each resource you create

Because there may be several users logged into the same L7|ESP instance, we recommend you add your initials as a prefix to each resource you create. That way you can quickly tell which resources you created.
1) Create Pre-Production MES batch record
  • Navigate to MES 
  • Click + New Batch Record
  • Select OBX115 Starting as the Product.
  •   Note: Selecting this product automatically applies the Pre-Production MBR.
  • Enter a Batch Name 
  • Select the most recent pinned MBR Version, i.e., 1.0 (02/25/2026)
  • Click Create
2) Complete Pre-Production MES batch record
  • Click the Batch Name of the newly created batch
  • ----- Pre-Production MBR - Step 1.1: Starting Material Collection -----
  • Enter a the Collection Site Name
  • Enter a Collect Site Address
  • Select Tumor as the Starting Material Type
  • Enter a new unique number as the Collection ID
  • Enter a new unique number as the Patient ID
  • Click Save
  • Enter the Collection Start and End Date/Time
  • Enter a Collection Volume (mL)
  • Enter 1 for the Number of Samples
  • Enter -80C as the Required Storage Temperature (Celsius) 
  • Enter None for Comment(s) 
  • Complete the QA Approval signature flow by signing as a Performer and Verifier
  •   Note: You may use any of the user credentials provided to you to complete any of the signature flows in this walkthrough instance (except in Quality Review and final Sign-off), but you must be the logged in user who's signing.
  • Click Complete 
  • Click Save
  •   Note: The values entered in the Collection ID and Patient ID fields have now been synced to the batch record entity.
  • Click Submit to Next Unit Operation
  • ----- Pre-Production MBR - Step 2.1: Starting Material Receipt -----
  • Enter a Manufacturing Site Name and Address
  • Register a sample by clicking Add in the Sample Point field -> set Number of Samples to 1 -> click Register
  • Note: The Patient ID and Collection ID fields should be left blank, they will automatically be populated once registered. 
  • Note: Here you are registering the starting material that will be scanned into the system later in the process (Production and Pack-out). 
  • Select Refrigerator #002 as the Storage (Refrigerator) by clicking the field -> select Refrigerator #002 from the Equipment Name dropdown -> click Confirm 
  • Note: Equipment must have a status of "Available". If no options appear in the dropdown list, then go to Assets -> Equipment -> select piece of equipment -> update its Status to Available.
  • Right click on the name of the entity under Sample Taken in the previous Sample Point field, then open link in a new window or split view to view the sample's details
  • Click the expand icon next the entity's Barcode to view its QR code 
  • Scan the QR code by first turning on your scanner -> click somewhere on the MES page -> scan QR code
  •   Note: Once scanned, the sample will populate under the Record Sample Location field and will be associated with this batch record and refrigerator.
  • Select a Receipt Date/Time 
  • Sign as the Verifier of the receipt
  • Enter 4C as the Required Storage Temperature (Celsius)
  • Enter 4C as the Storage Temperature (Celsius)
  • Set Storage Temperature Requirement Met? to True
  • Attach files to the Temperature Monitoring Device Report, Material Specification, and Infectious Disease Marker Testing Report fields
  •   Note: Any files uploaded in this step/protocol will be pulled forward into the COC-COI report.
  • Complete the QA Approval signature flow by signing as a Performer and Verifier
  • Click Complete 
  • Click Save 
3) Create Production MES batch record
  • Return to MES landing page 
  • Click + New Batch Record
  • Select OBX115 as the Product
  •   Note: Selecting this product automatically applies the Production MBR.
  • Enter a Batch Name 
  • Select the most recent pinned MBR Version, i.e., 1.0 (02/25/2026)
  • Click Create
4) Complete Production MES batch record
  • Click the Batch Name of the newly created batch
  • ----- Production MBR - Step 1.1: Tumor Preparation -----
  • Scan the QR code of the entity registered in the Pre-Production MBR
  •   Note: Upon scanning, the Parent Batch, Collection ID and Patient ID fields will be populated.
  • Enter values for fields in Step 1.1.2: Tumor Preparation up through the Sample Point field
  • Click Save 
  • Select an Incubator that has a status of Available 
  • Note: Equipment must have a status of "Available". If no options appear in the dropdown list, then go to Assets -> Equipment -> select piece of equipment -> update its Status to Available.
  • Register a sample by clicking Add in the Sample Point field -> set Number of Samples to 1 -> click Register 
  • Right click on the name of the entity under Sample Taken in the previous Sample Point field, then open link in a new window or split view to view the sample's details
  • Click the expand icon next the entity's Barcode to view its QR code 
  • Scan the QR code by first turning on your scanner -> click somewhere on the MES page -> scan QR code
  •   Note: Once scanned, the sample will populate under the Record Sample Location field and will be associated with this batch record and incubator. 
  •  Repeat the steps above to register a second sample and store it to the same incubator 
  • Enter the Date/Time Placed in Culture Device 
  • Sign off on the Performed by and Verifier fields  
  • Click Complete 
  • Click Save 
  • Click Submit to Next Unit Operation
  • ----- Production MBR - Step 2.1: TIL Culture -----
  •   You may continue filling out the EBR, but it is not necessary for this walkthrough 
5) Create Packout MES batch record
  • Return to MES landing page 
  • Click + New Batch Record
  • Select OBX115 Packout as the Product
  •   Note: Selecting this product automatically applies the Packout MBR.
  • Enter a Batch Name 
  • Select the most recent pinned MBR Version, i.e., 1.0 (02/25/2026)
  • Click Create
6) Complete Packout MES batch record
  • Click the Batch Name of the newly created batch
  • ----- Packout MBR - Step 1.1: Packout -----
  • Scan the QR code of the entity registered in the Pre-Production MBR
  •   Note: Upon scanning, the Parent Batch, Collection ID and Patient ID fields will be populated.
  • Click Save
  • Register a sample by clicking Add in the Sample Point field -> set Number of Samples to 1 -> click Register 
  • Select a Shipping Container that has a status of Available 
  • Right click on the name of the entity under Sample Taken in the previous Sample Point field, then open link in a new window or split view to view the sample's details
  • Click the expand icon next the entity's Barcode to view its QR code 
  • Scan the QR code by first turning on your scanner -> click somewhere on the MES page -> scan QR code
  •   Note: Once scanned, the sample will populate under the Record Sample Location field and will be associated with this batch record and shipping container. 
  • Select a Shipper Temperature
  • Enter the Packed Date/Time 
  • Sign off as the Verifier  
  • Complete the remaining fields 
  • Click Complete 
  • Click Save 
7) Generate COC-COI Report
  • Return to MES landing page and take note of what you named each of the three MBRs you just stepped through 
  • Navigate to the Dashboard app (click the apps tray in the upper left corner -> Dashboard)
  • Click Chain of Custody and Identity Report 
  • Search for the name of the Pre-Product batch record 
  • Select the checkbox next to its name under Search Results
  • Click Add MES Batch to Report
  • Repeat for the Production and Packout batch records
  • Scroll through page to review report
  • Click Export to PDF to generate a PDF file of the report
